Experiments with the creation of affordable housing using 3D printing technologies will not stop. A new word in this topic was said by the specialists of the Italian company WASP. Their new project is literally made of dirt and cost only $1000.
Construction mixture, which was used in the process, 25% consisted of conventional soil taken on one of the Italian sites. Another 40% of the composition was formed by straw, 25% — rice husks and only 10% — limestone. The resulting solution was used to print the walls of the house, but the roof of the building is made of wood, and the whole structure is on a concrete Foundation, however, also printed on a 3D printer.
The result was a building with Windows, the total area of which was 20 sq. m. the Interior is decorated with wood and produces a pleasant enough impression for the object made of such materials. The construction process took 10 days and the project budget was only €900 (about $1000). However, this amount included only the price of directly used building materials, excluding the cost of labor.
The building was named Gaia and, of course, has an experimental character. Italian experts believe that this prototype can be useful for solving the housing problem in a number of developing countries.
